Queens March:
The model for
inclusive events.
What started as 250 women gathering in 2023 became 450 at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in 2025 — without a bigger budget. Just a better model: community co-design, trusted messenger outreach, and culturally authentic programming.
Now that model is formalized and available to any organization through our Inclusive Organization Toolkit.

Jennifer Everett — building what was missing.
Jennifer Everett is a Richmond County native who founded Culture Queens in 2019 when she saw a gap no other organization was filling: rural Black women and girls in the Sandhills had no dedicated space where arts, outdoor wellness, and cultural celebration came together.
A NC Rural Center Homegrown Leaders graduate, Jennifer has grown Culture Queens from a grassroots idea into a nationally recognized nonprofit — while still being deeply rooted in the community she serves.
"Inclusion is not inviting more people to the same table. Sometimes it means building a new one — and making sure the people it was built for are the ones who sit at the head."
